*Iggy stands* "Well, when you put it that way. I need all of you, all five of you, to fell whole myself. *Iggy raises his head lights flashing telling max that he cops were almost on top of them* Yes, you're a blind mutant freak, but you're my blind mutant freak, and you're coming with me, now, you're coming with us right now, or I swear I will kick your skinny white ass from here to the middle of next week. (max) Ig, i know it's hard, but if you think I'm going to let you give up on us now, you've got another think coming. (iggy) No! It's different for you, you don't know what it's like, Yeah I make jokes- I'm the blind kid, but don't you see? Every time we move I'm lost all over again, you guys- It's much easier for you. The two met in Berlin, bonding over a shared vision of serving up a cuisine inspired by their heritage. (max) Up and away guys! Come on iggy, we gotta go. “It never works out! *kicks rock, it hits a window, sirens go off* But as we venture into the murky future, we must find our strength by learning to leave things behind.” There are things that will never change, things we will carry along with us always. Although there are places and people we will never see again, and although we move on and let them go, they remain a part of who we are. What defines us isn't where we're going, but where we've been. We spend so much time focused on what lies ahead, when what has fallen behind is just as important. Without its support, we'd have nothing for guidance. It erases, it smudges, it fills in blank spaces with details that don't exist.īut however we remember it––or choose to remember it––the past is the foundation that holds our lives in place. It has mastered an incomprehensible art of forgetting. The most frightening thing about memory is that it leaves no choice. We carry everything with us, the weight exhausting us until we want to collapse and give up. When we try to move ahead, we end up taking a step back. Instead, we always find ourselves where we started. There would be nothing but the present and the future. Ideally, it would be a straight path forward––we'd always know where we were going, we'd always be able to move on and leave everything else behind.
